AdvantaIRA Trust Hosts National Webinar: Types of Investments Permissible in a Self-Directed IRA

AdvantaIRA Trust

Fort Myers, FL (PRWEB) May 14, 2015

A self-directed IRA gives investors freedom of choice to purchase alternative assets tax-free. AdvantaIRA Trust is hosting a nationwide webinar on May 21st to discuss the different types of alternative assets that are permissible in a self-directed retirement account.

A self-directed IRA is a tax-sheltered trust set up for retirement by tax code section 408. Typical IRA custodians only hold investments they sell such as stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. Since AdvantaIRA does not sell investments, investors have complete control allowing more options to diversify the retirement portfolio. When investing using a self-directed IRA gains, income, and sale proceeds grow inside the retirement account tax-free.

Aside from life insurance and collectibles a self-directed IRA can hold a wide array of assets. Alternative assets that will be discussed during the national webinar include real estate, secured promissory notes, single-member LLCs, precious metals, private placements and private stock, and foreign currency exchange and futures trading. “This is a great webinar for investors who are not sure what they can invest in using their self-directed IRA,” says Dave Owens, managing partner of AdvantaIRA Trust.

The webinar on May 21st is open to the public at no charge. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions at the end of the presentation.

Tiny’s Bar and Grill

Utica, NY (PRWEB) August 15, 2014

Tiny’s Grill is saving $ 159 a month on its utility bill, while reducing its energy usage and environmental impact. By implementing energy-efficient interior and exterior lighting upgrades throughout the bar, dining room, kitchen, storage and outdoor areas of its Utica, NY location, Tiny’s Grill has reduced energy consumption by 17,194 kWh, which is equivalent to removing an estimated 18,913 pounds of carbon dioxide from the environment per year, according to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency calculations. The lighting upgrades were completed by SmartWatt Energy via the National Grid Small Business Services Program.

When the owner of Tiny’s Grill, Joanne Gerace, contacted National Grid to inquire about their Small Business Services Program, SmartWatt came in to perform a complimentary energy audit of all interior and exterior lighting. SmartWatt then proposed a plan to replace the existing lighting systems with energy-efficient fluorescent and LED lighting fixtures throughout the restaurant. These lighting upgrades have not only substantially reduced the restaurant’s energy costs, but have also resulted in a rebate of $ 3,955, which according to National Grid, are expected to pay for themselves in only 16 months.

SmartWatt is the administrator and implementation contractor for National Grid’s Small Business Services Program in Central, Northern, and the Mohawk Valley regions of upstate New York. The National Grid Small Business Services Program helps businesses with an average peak demand of 100 kW or less per month to conduct energy-efficient upgrade measures. Through this program, SmartWatt will provide a complimentary energy audit and National Grid will pay up to 70 percent of the installation costs completed by SmartWatt and finance the remaining amount interest-free for up to two years.

National Museum of Mathematics Hosts ‘Taste of Math’ with ‘Cooking for Geeks’ Author Jeff Potter and MIT Behavioral Economist Coco Krumme

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 09, 2014

On Wednesday, June 11, the National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath) will host Taste of Math, a special event exploring the math of wine, cheese, and chocolate. Taste of Math will be led by Jeff Potter, who uses science to describe what happens in the kitchen in his book Cooking for Geeks, and MIT behavioral economist Coco Krumme, who uses wine experiments to demonstrate concepts in behavioral economics.

“MoMath is thrilled to host this unique event that not only brings together two of our favorite things, food and math, but also shows people the many surprising and exciting ways math appears in everyday life,” said Glen Whitney, MoMath co-founder and co-executive director. “We created North America’s only math museum in hopes of changing cultural perceptions of mathematics, and events like this certainly help us move toward that goal.”

Throughout the evening, Potter and Krumme will explain how math can help distinguish a cheap wine from an expensive one and how statistics can help one learn a friend’s food preferences or how preferences change over time. Participants will partake in a unique and tasty adventure, examining statistics, probability theory, models, and heuristics with fine wine, cheese, and chocolate. All attendees will have a chance to partake in the sampling as the hosts delve into the science behind the food. SD26 will provide cheese for the evening, while chocolate will be provided by Lindt Chocolate Shop on 5th Avenue at 54th Street.

“Jeff Potter and Coco Krumme are interesting, innovative thinkers, and we are honored to have them join us in revealing some of the fun aspects of mathematics,” said Cindy Lawrence, who joined Whitney in founding the Museum and is now co-executive director. “Math has never been so delicious!”

Taste of Math will be held at the National Museum of Mathematics on Wednesday, June 11, from 6:30 – 9 p.m. Tickets are $ 90 for museum members and $ 100 for nonmembers. For more information or to register, visit tasteofmath.momath.org or call 212-542-0566.

National Debt Relief Discusses Budgeting Advice from Money Experts

National Debt Relief

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) May 13, 2014

National Debt Relief shared in an article published last May 11, 2014 pieces of advice about budgeting from experts. The article titled “Here’s Budgeting Advice From Four Top Money Experts” shares excerpts from 4 world-renowned money and budgeting experts in the industry. It aims to educate the public more about money management.

The article highlights key learnings from 4 different budgeting experts and explains their use in everyday consumer life. The material explains the practicality and use of each key piece of advice.

Suze Orman – Gaining popularity through a CNN TV program and from authoring the book “9 steps to Financial Freedom,” makes her a reputable voice in the industry of personal finance. The article shares her view on cutting back 10% in family spending. The article goes on to explain how it can benefit the savings account tremendously in a short span of time. And the cutback in spending is not so much that the family will question the move and the motive.

Dave Ramsey – The financial author TV personality, radio host and motivational speaker shares his wisdom when it comes to groceries every month. He mentioned that people tend to budget around their expenses totally forgetting about the groceries. The article further explains that it is best to over budget for groceries by looking at the past tally and adding about $ 50 on the expense. It is always better to over budget and save up rather than going over the budget.

Rick Adelman – This NBA player and coach who recently retired as the Minnesota Timberwolves head coach shares how important it is to look at the past to prepare for the future. It is a good idea to check what expenses were incurred in the past. The total of those would most likely be the amount again in the succeeding years. This helps consumers on a take off point when preparing a budget for the year.

Gail Vaz-Oxlade – This Canadian TV celebrity and “’Til Debt Do Us Part” host discussed the concept of magic jars. This finance author explains how making use of this practical financial practice can save up overspending for items in the budget. The article explains that magic jars are where money for food, clothing and other expense items are placed. When the time comes that the consumer is about to make the purchase, only the contents of the jar will be used. It keeps the purchase within budget and prevents overcharging.

The article also explains the importance of creating a monthly budget. It shares that no matter how much advice consumers get from experts, if budgeting is not practiced, it will be hard to understand.

Dimensional Insight Customer Main Line Health Discussed Clinical Analytics at National Healthcare CMO/CMIO Summit

Burlington, MA (PRWEB) March 13, 2014

Dimensional Insight, a developer of business intelligence (BI) solutions, today announced that Harm Scherpbier, M.D., vice president & chief medical information officer of Main Line Health, a Dimensional Insight customer, presented a session titled, “Does CPOE Guide Clinicians to the Best Choices? Clinical Analytics for Insulin Regimen Tracking,” last week at the National Healthcare CMO/CMIO Summit. In the session, Dr. Scherpbier discussed how Main Line Health, a community health system serving suburban Philadelphia, uses The Diver Solution™ (Diver), Dimensional Insight’s BI platform, to strengthen its diabetes regimen tracking.

The National Healthcare CMO/CMIO Summit was an invitation-only event for senior-level medical executives and solution providers. It was held March 6-7 at Red Rock Resort & Spa in Las Vegas. The agenda included keynote presentations, case studies and interactive sessions, as well as one-on-one meetings.

In his presentation, Dr. Scherpbier discussed how Main Line Health implemented computerized physician order entry (CPOE) guidelines for inpatient insulin therapies. Physicians, nonetheless, were using CPOE to build suboptimal insulin therapy order sets. Using Diver, Main Line developed an endocrinology dashboard application to analyze insulin regimen ordering patterns and correlate the choice of insulin regimen with patients’ glucose outcomes.

Main Line uses the application to give direct, physician-specific feedback, as well as target education and training to hospital physicians. Insights are used to further refine CPOE guidance so that Main Line can improve the quality of care delivered.

“We are seeing rapid growth in the application of analytics to clinical data among our healthcare customers, as clinical data becomes more widely available electronically,” said George Dealy, Dimensional Insight’s vice president of healthcare applications development. “Providers are increasingly using healthcare analytics to monitor, analyze and drive practice changes in disease management that improve patient outcomes and quality of care.”

Truckload Carriers Association Announces Division Winners in 2013 National Fleet Safety Awards

Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) January 13, 2014

Since the mid-1970s, the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) has been recognizing the safest fleets in North America through its National Fleet Safety Awards. Sponsored by Great West Casualty Company, the awards honor trucking companies that demonstrate a superior commitment to safety and accident reduction. Eighteen companies have been selected as division winners for the 2013 competition and will now attempt to capture one of two grand prizes.

“In addition to focusing the spotlight on companies that work hard to achieve stellar safety records, these awards give us a glimpse of how well the industry is performing as a whole, said Jerry Waddell, CDS, chairman of TCA’s Safety & Security Division and the safety director for Cargo Transporters, Inc., of Claremont, North Carolina. “With the continued decrease in the total contest fleet vehicle accident ratio, it demonstrates the forward safety thinking that our carrier members exhibit on a daily basis when it comes to their day-to-day operations.”

Companies applying for the National Fleet Safety Awards have completed the first of a two-step process. First, their accident frequency per million miles driven was calculated for each of six mileage-based divisions (listed below). The top three division winners were selected and have been audited by an independent expert to verify their accident frequency numbers.

The division winners will be recognized at an awards ceremony to be held during TCA’s Annual Convention, March 23-26, 2014, at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Texas. They will also be recognized during TCA’s Safety & Security Division Annual Meeting, May 18-20, 2014, at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch in St. Louis, Missouri.

All division winners are now eligible to compete for two grand prizes, one in the “less than 25 million annual miles” category and one in the “25 million or more annual miles” category. To win the grand prize, companies will be judged on their overall safety programs, both on- and off-highway, including employee driver/independent contractor selection procedures, training, supervision, accident investigation, inspection and maintenance of equipment, and outside activities including general highway safety.

As with the division winners, the two grand prize winning companies will be honored at an awards ceremony to be held first during TCA’s Annual Convention and then again during TCA’s Safety & Security Division Annual Meeting.

Below are the names of the 2013 top divisional winners based on low accident frequency ratios per million miles. Companies are listed according to the order that they placed within each category.

Division I Winners (Under 5 million miles)

1. FTC Transportation, Inc., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

National Debt Relief Exposes Credit Card Facts That Most Consumers Do Not Know

NationalDebtRelief.com

Miami, FL (PRWEB) June 21, 2013

National Debt Relief, the leading provider of debt settlement services puts the limelight back on credit cards. On June 4, they published the article entitled “5 Little Known Facts About Credit Cards You Need To know.”

The article tackled the very controversial nature of credit cards and how some facts can affect the overall debt amount of consumers. In some instances, it makes the debt even worse than it already had become.

The debt relief company does not completely bash the cards. In fact, they admit that “credit cards can be wondrous tools” but it had to be used correctly. To do that, consumers must understand the whole nature of the plastic cards. This is what prompted National Debt Relief to publish the 5 facts that they believe consumers should know.

Here are the 5 facts that were discussed in the article.

The first fact is credit card companies have every right to raise their interest rates whenever they want to. These cards are notorious for having high interest and to have that increase further will also grow your debt balance. The article states that the first year of the cards is usually the only time the rates are safe from having a high increase. The article also mentioned that even if the consumer is a great card holder (e.g. pays on time), they will still increase rates if they feel like it.

To counter that first fact, the article revealed that consumers have every right to refuse that interest increase. This is fact number two. Card holders can actually write to their creditor to negotiate that they keep the old interest rate. There are three things that can happen. The card company can either lower the credit line, increase the monthly payment of the consumer or close the account. In case the creditor closes the account and the consumer agree that it is the best course, they should be given around five years to completely pay off the debt. Whatever is decided, the debt relief company warns consumers to put everything in writing.

The third fact involves the protection that these cards can give. The article is quick to say that this is not for all cards though. It includes purchasing something that does not arrive or receiving something that was not what the card holder ordered. Theft through credit cards are easier to track than stolen cash so that in itself is a protection for consumers.

The fourth fact that the article discussed involves fixed rates. Fact is, it may not be fixed at all. Or at least, the article notes that it will not stay fixed and that it can convert into a variable in the future. Of course, before this can happen, the law requires card companies to provide consumers with a 45 days notice.

The last fact that the article revealed is all about the balance. Sometimes, card companies do not impose a spending limit. In some cases, there is a limited amount that can be forwarded to the next month. The article admits that this can be confusing so they urge readers to read the fine prints on the credit card’s terms and conditions.

National Debt Relief hopes that through this article, consumers will be more cautious about how they use credit cards. The debt relief company have already worked with thousands of clients who are mostly burdened with credit card debt.

To read the whole article, visit National Debt Relief or call 888-703-4948 to talk to an International Association of Professional Debt Arbitrators (IAPDA) certified debt expert.
