SEW-EURODRIVE Selects NetDimensions Talent Suite to Deliver Efficient Learning all around the World

Integrated Learning and Performance

Neu-Isenburg, Germany (PRWEB) January 08, 2015

NetDimensions (AIM: NETD; OTCQX: NETDY), a global provider of performance, knowledge, and learning management systems, announced today that Germany-based SEW-EURODRIVE, a leading provider of drive automation solutions, has selected NetDimensions Talent Suite to train over 16,000 employees worldwide.

As one of the most innovative market leaders in the field of drive technology, SEW-EURODRIVE is confronted with the challenge of efficient knowledge management at a global scale. With products and services becoming increasingly complex, SEW-EURODRIVE needed a Learning Management System (LMS) that would allow the distribution of training content quickly and efficiently across the whole “SEW world.”

Moreover, SEW-EURODRIVE wanted to provide targeted and personalized learning to its workforce at the moment of need and all around the world. Because of its decentralized organization structure, SEW-EURODRIVE needed a flexible learning solution that could be adapted to the specific needs of the different countries and to the preferences of individual employees.

“We were seeking a new solution to allow us to increase flexibility by providing a variety of learning opportunities to our workforce, such as social and online learning activities. We also wanted to increase learning on-the-job, as well as improve reporting. The goal is to establish lean processes for learning and development at a global level,” explained Sabine Kühnlein, Project Manager, Learning Management System at SEW-EURODRIVE.

After an extensive evaluation process, which included approximately 400 different criteria, eight solutions were shortlisted. NetDimensions Learning (an application of NetDimensions Talent Suite) was selected, because it covered the highest number of functional criteria and the team at SEW felt that NetDimensions would be the best fit for the culture of SEW-EURODRIVE.

“The coverage of our functional requirements, the fitting to our in-house IT systems, and the ability to implement the system on-premise were all critical. Our LMS needs to interface to several other systems, like our core HR system, SAP HR, and our authoring tool TT Knowledge Force (TTKF). NetDimensions Learning is a flexible, multi-language solution. It allows us to personalize the visual design and make the learning experience engaging for our users.”

“Throughout the selection process it became clear to us that the whole NetDimensions team is really willing to fulfill our requirements and that they are working hard to improve their solutions according to the practical needs of their clients,” concludes Kühnlein.

Learning is an integral part of the talent management process at SEW-EURODRIVE. The company’s goal is to encourage staff to learn more autonomously on a daily basis, with the support of their line managers. Even though the focus is currently on learning and development, it is also critical that integrating the Learning Management System with a complete enterprise Talent Management solution is available to the company.

Dr. Hilmar Döring, Head of HR at SEW-EURODRIVE, commented: “With the new system we create a way to multiply learning opportunities within the company, which is a major step on our way to truly becoming a Learning Organization.”

“We are delighted to work with SEW-EURODRIVE and support the innovation in their learning and talent management. We believe that NetDimensions Talent Suite is an ideal solution for global manufacturing companies like SEW-EURODRIVE, which have to manage training globally and make sure they meet strict compliance regulations in multiple different markets,” commented Liam Butler, General Manager for EMEA at NetDimensions.

International Intellectual Property recruiters, Fellows and Associates, head to Toronto for the 44th AIPPI World Intellectual Property Congress

London, United Kingdom (PRWEB) August 22, 2014

The World Intellectual Property Congress, now in its 44th year, is hosted by the non-profit International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) and boasts nearly 9000 members from over 100 different countries. Founded in 1897 it is the oldest association in the Intellectual Property sector and aims to help improve and promote the protection of Intellectual Property on a national and international scale.

The Fellows and Associates team will be making the trip across the North Atlantic next month to rub shoulders with fellow AIPPI members; including lawyers, patent and trade mark attorneys, judges, scientists and engineers, as well as professionals from large multinational corporations. “This will be my second year at the AIPPI World Intellectual Property Congress and I am very much looking forward to it” enthuses consultant Phillipa Field. “I had the pleasure of attending in Seoul in 2012 not long after I had joined Fellows and Associates and found it an invaluable introduction into the Intellectual Property sector”.

The congress is an opportunity for Intellectual Property professionals to build and refresh their knowledge of international IP practices and developments, as well as meeting with fellow industry professionals from across the world in relaxed and informal surroundings. “Our main focus at these events is to network and build upon our database of contacts in the IP field, however we also see it as a fantastic opportunity to further educate ourselves on the industry in which we work” explains Director Pete Fellows. “Fellows and Associates are Intellectual Property specialists in as much as we only focus on roles operating within this sector. The more we know about the industry, the more detailed and effective a service we can offer our clients and candidates.”

The company invest a huge amount in ensuring that they maintain their reputation as a leader in Intellectual Property recruitment, both in terms of knowledge and level of service. As well as attending networking events and conferences the team place significant effort in the upkeep and content of their website. “Our aim is to have a variety of content available that our visitors can digest, rather than it simply serving as an on line job board. We produce our own videos, write and commission articles of interest, as well as providing up to date and detailed job postings.”

The Fellows and Associates attendees, Pete Fellows and Phillipa Field, are currently in the final stages of organising their schedules for the trip to Canada. They plan to meet a number of IP professionals from varying countries across the world specialising in different areas of the industry, in particular IP service providers, in-house counsel and US IP lawyers. “We are currently researching the US Intellectual Property market as we think it is an area to which we can lend our recruitment expertise” Pete Fellows explains. “We already have an established network of US IP professionals, which we are looking to grow further, and believe our international perspective may be able to help in offering an alternative solution to their normal suppliers.”

It seems that the Fellows and Associates team have had a lot to look forward to over recent months, with the celebration of their fifth anniversary in August and Pete and Phillipa’s trip to the AIPPI Congress in Toronto in September. “2014 has been a fantastic year so far” comments Phillipa Field. “We have been extremely busy working with existing clients, as well as seeing a promising uptake in instructions in new avenues of IP recruitment. We have arranged for a special celebration to mark our fifth anniversary, of which further details will be available on our website very soon, and have already returned from one successful business trip at the INTA Annual Meeting in Hong Kong before preparing for Toronto next month.”

Siemens PLM World 2014: PARTsolutions Enables Teamcenter and NX Users to “Check-In” and Search Standard Parts

PARTsolutions Enables Teamcenter and NX Users to “Check-In” and Search Standard Parts

Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) June 10, 2014

CADENAS PARTsolutions is demonstrating the power and versatility of their Standard Parts Management (SPM) platform at Siemens PLM World June 16 -19 in Orlando, Florida. PARTsolutions SPM operates as a standalone platform or in tandem with a PLM system, such as Siemens Teamcenter. The platform helps engineering teams manage their standard and supplier parts, so they can spend more time on value-added design. PARTsolutions Standard Parts Management (SPM) gives engineers the power to search standard parts, as well as sort and classify, like no other platform can.

“PARTsolutions SPM platform beefs-up the power of your organization’s PLM system,” says Tim Thomas, CEO of CADENAS PARTsolutions. “Our powerful classification capabilities ensure the ‘parts vault’ is clean and accurate, removing duplicates and organizing components in a much more intuitive way. Once the ‘vault’ is clean, our system confirms the accuracy of parts for designers to choose from in the future, while adding powerful capabilities to search standard parts and speed up their specification process. Engineers won’t have to waste time hunting for the right part, they can quickly find what they need, drop it in their design and move on, that’s value-added design!”

Implementation of SPM technologies establishes enterprise-wide standardization for all part types, resulting in:

    Elimination of duplicate parts
    Reduction of engineering re-work
    Increased productivity
Guided selection of company approved parts and suppliers
Part data visibility across all systems (ERP, PLM, PDM and CAD)
Compliance for industry standard / commodity parts
Greater order accuracy and procurement efficiency

PARTsolutions SPM helps engineers and purchasers to find, reduce and manage standard, supplier and internal standard parts, using a simple interface. Using PARTsolutions, NX users have access to 3D CAD models from more than 600 certified manufacturer catalogs. When importing 3D CAD models from PARTsolutions into NX, the system avoids duplicates by automatically “checking parts in” to Teamcenter PLM. When a component is necessary for a design in NX it is not created again by PARTsolutions, but directly uploaded from Teamcenter. This optimized process helps to reduce the number of redundant parts in the library, saving time and resources for the organization.

World Leaders in Alzheimer’s Innovation to Discuss Progress, Collaboration at DIA Annual Meeting

Horsham, Pa. (PRWEB) June 17, 2013

Without treatment, experts say, the number of Alzheimer’s disease patients worldwide is expected to almost double by 2025 to 34 million people—a startling realization that’s driving global forces to join together to advance research for the debilitating disease before it’s too late.

A number of innovative initiatives hold hope for a promising future in understanding Alzheimer’s, including new ways to implement genome sequencing in research, focus on much-needed support for caregivers and look for novel methods to improve clinical trials. These breakthrough efforts will be discussed on June 26 by U.S. leaders in Alzheimer’s research and regulation in three Advancing Alzheimer’s Innovation sessions at the DIA 2013 49th Annual Meeting at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.

Scientists are now focusing on the interaction of gender, genetic risk factors and biological markers of the disease. Harvard Medical School professors Dr. Rudy Tanzi, director of the Genetics and Aging Research Unit of the MassGeneral Institute for Neurodegenerative Disease and recently profiled by The Boston Globe and cited as a “rock star of science” by GQ, and Dr. Reisa Sperling, director of the Center for Alzheimer Research and Treatment at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, will join a panel of experts discussing collaboration to support research at Advancing Alzheimer’s Innovation: A Call to Action.

Tanzi, leader of the Whole Genome Sequencing Project, aims to propel research to identify the genetic risk for Alzheimer’s disease—a vital step in discovering a therapy.

“We are taking advantage of cutting-edge technology to discover exactly how our genes determine susceptibility to Alzheimer’s disease,” Tanzi said. “This panel will discuss how this key knowledge will pioneer novel drug discovery efforts and pave the future of Alzheimer’s research.”

Sperling is the principal investigator for the first-ever clinical trial aimed at older people who are at genetic risk of developing Alzheimer’s, but who have yet to show symptoms. Sperling will discuss the new era of prevention trials and the importance of studying the role gender may play in developing the disease. The three-year-long clinical trial, launching in November, will be made up of 1,000 older individuals and is funded jointly by the National Institutes of Health and Eli Lilly.

“It is critical to understand the interaction of risk factors and biological markers of disease pathology as we move forward with the trial,” Sperling said.

Adding to the discussion about innovative approaches to treating Alzheimer’s, Dr. Nicholas Kozauer, clinical lead for the Food and Drug Administration’s Division of Neurology Products, will address the need for a regulatory framework for pre-dementia clinical trials. In March, Kozauer published a compelling piece in the New England Journal of Medicine on the need for innovative approaches in trial design and selection as the drug-development community turns its sights on the early stages of the disease.

The session is chaired by Meryl Comer, president of the Geoffrey Beene Foundation Alzheimer’s Initiative, which just launched a $ 100,000 Global NeuroDiscovery Challenge to look at gender-based differences in Alzheimer’s. George Vradenburg, chairman of USAgainstAlzheimer’s, will discuss plans to use the G-8 to develop an international approach to address Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Below are the two other June 26 sessions focused on Alzheimer’s treatment and care:

Advancing Alzheimer’s Innovation: Patient Advocacy, Caregiver Support and Health Care System Impact at 1:45 p.m.

New initiatives are responding to the growing stress on caregivers and the need to help individuals remain independent for as long as possible. Robert Feeney, senior director of evidence-based reimbursement for Sanofi, will lead a panel of experts discussing the initiatives that prepare society for the proper care of Alzheimer’s patients and caregivers. The forum will address best practices in delivery of care, whether in institutions or at home.

Advancing Alzheimer’s Innovation: Clinical Development Successes and Challenges at 4 p.m.

Only about 8 percent of drugs that treat diseases—including Alzheimer’s—affecting the central nervous system enter clinical trials and the U.S. market. Innovative approaches to clinical design are needed to advance the success rate of drugs that treat Alzheimer’s. Sperling, discussing the current landscape of Alzheimer’s clinical trials and lessons learned from past trials, will join executives from Eisai Inc., and Merck & Co., to address the challenges encountered in clinical development and recommendations in design to improve the success of clinical trials.

Chicago-Area Museum Hosts A World Event: Pianist Jeanne Golan to Perform The Complete Piano Sonatas of Viktor Ullmann

Pianist Jeanne Golan to Perform at the Illinois Holocaust Museum

Skokie, IL (PRWEB) October 05, 2012

Pianist and Steinway Artist Jeanne Golan will perform The Complete Sonatas of Victor Ullmann in two programs that span the compositional life of Viktor Ullmann, from his days as a leading musical figure in Prague to his internment at Terezin. The performances will take place on Thursday, October 18th at 7pm and Sunday, October 21st at 1:30pm; each concert will last 90 minutes and be followed by a dessert reception. Single performance general public tickets are $ 18, $ 14 for museum members. A $ 5 surcharge will be added to tickets purchased on the day of the performance. Advance purchase recommended; Click here or call 847.967.4852. The Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center is located at 9603 Woods Drive in Skokie, Illinois.

Viktor Ullmann’s (1898-1944), valiantly creative career culminated in the Nazi concentration camp of Theresienstadt/Terezín before he was sent to his death in Auschwitz. Golan’s double-CD set ¬– the first to put all seven of Ullmann’s piano sonatas together in more than two decades – was released by Steinway & Sons/Arkiv Music on August 28, 2012.

In a testimonial by James Conlon for Golan’s recording, the conductor – renowned Music Director of the Ravina Festival and dedicated champion of music by composers persecuted and displaced by the Nazis – says: “Viktor Ullmann and others of his generation are less known to us today not because of any lack of musical quality, but because their voices were stifled by a regime and then pushed aside once again in the clamor of post-war cultural advancement. This excellent and important recording by Jeanne Golan will do much to generate greater appreciation for Ullmann’s music among musicians and music lovers everywhere. I hope other musicians will follow her example by immersing themselves in the music of Ullmann and, in so doing, discover the work of a true 20th-century master.”

Rick Hirschhaut, Executive Director of the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center, notes, “We are privileged to give voice to this brilliant composer whose work was silenced by the Nazi regime. Through the magnificent artistry of Jeanne Golan, the music of Viktor Ullmann can now be enjoyed and experienced by all who join us for these momentous concerts.”

The Massachusetts-bred, New York-based Golan fully immersed herself in Ullmann’s music and life for this ambitious project. Golan points out that Ullmann’s range as a composer was extraordinary: “He had this capacity to tap into all these different styles yet still sound like himself,” she says. “Ullmann was such a curious musician. Each sonata is a sort of experiment in a certain sound world, as he explores what’s suggested in folk songs or Mahler and Bartók. But it’s never derivative ¬¬¬– the music comes out as Ullmann. He had a real sense of play.

His is a very sad story, and that was a horrific time, obviously. But along with distressed emotion in his music, there is humor and often a real exuberance, a reveling in creativity.”

Philip L. and Ellen V. Glass are the Presenting Sponsor for The Complete Piano Sonatas of Viktor Ullmann.

The Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center is the largest facility in the Midwest dedicated to preserving the memories of those lost in the Holocaust and to teaching current generations to fight hatred, indifference and genocide in today’s world. The Museum is located at 9603 Woods Drive, Skokie. The Museum is open Monday through Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; Thursday evenings: 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.; and Saturdays and Sundays: 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Learn more at http://www.ilholocaustmuseum.org.

Gold Coast Australia wins Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race

Gold Coast Australia wins Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race

Southampton, England (PRWEB UK) 24 July 2012

It was a spectacular scene today as thousands of people turned out to watch the winning crew on board Gold Coast Australia arrive back in Southampton, England at the end of the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race. The Australian entry won the race overall securing a podium in all 15 races around the world.

For the non-professional crew on board all ten ocean racing yachts, the return to Southampton marks the end of a 40,000-mile challenge of a lifetime.

The victorious Clipper Race entry Gold Coast Australia crossed the final finish line of Race 15 at 0407 GMT. Founder and Chairman Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, the first person to sail solo non-stop around the world, led a parade of sail on Southampton Water to welcome back the fleet of ten identical racing yachts after 51 weeks at sea.

Tasmanian skipper Richard Hewson and his crew proudly stood on the helm of the Clipper Race yacht as thousands of people applauded the victorious Australian team. On the emotional return to Ocean Village Marina, Richard described his teams’ enormous achievement,

“It has been an amazing adventure. From the start we’ve had plans to dominate the race and we’ve definitely done that. It’s been very competitive and we’ve been racing against some fantastic teams and have had very tough competition all the way.

“We’ve achieved so much more than we ever set out to, won so many races and podiums, but to stand on the stage as overall winners at Race Finish is unbelievable. The fantastic crew of Gold Coast Australia, amazing support from our sponsor and followers have all been part of making this happen,” said Richard Hewson before accepting the winning trophy on stage.

All day thousands of people lined the dockside of Ocean Village Marina in Southampton, England to welcome home the crews after a gruelling challenge lasting nearly a year, that has seen them take on the world’s largest and most formidable oceans, endured violent storms and frustrating calms, extreme heat and bone-numbing cold while racing ferociously to win.

Gold Coast Australia came first in the final race from Den Helder to Southampton, making it fifteen podium places out of fifteen possible in the world’s longest yacht race.

Today’s Race Finish was a particularly emotional moment for round the world crew member Lisa Blair. The 27-year-old Queenslander who swapped her job as a Sales Assistant to sail around the world, is now part of the unique group of people in the world able to call themselves a circumnavigator.

“I feel fantastic. It has been such an amazing morning, with so many people here welcoming us in. It is the end of my circumnavigation and it hasn’t sunk in at all.

“It’s been an emotional ride but it’s been fantastic and my fellow crew members have become like family.

“I hope to take away from this journey a career in sailing. The Clipper Race has given me the sailing skills I need to go professional in the sailing industry so that’s something I am definitely looking to pursue.”

People from all walks of life, nationalities and ages can be part of the Clipper Race. Reflecting on ordinary people achieving something extraordinary, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston applauded their achievement, as the nearly twelve months at sea today concluded.

“All the crew members have achieved something special with their lives. They have ventured out across the oceans of the world facing nature in the raw, whether it be the stifling heat and calms of the doldrums or the ferocious storms of the North Pacific and Southern Oceans. They have become great seaman and should all be justifiably proud of their achievement,” the 73-year-old sailing legend said.

The Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race is the eighth edition of the world’s longest race, visiting 15 ports of call on six continents. It is also the last race on the Clipper 68-foot yachts, as a brand new fleet of twelve identical 70-foot racing yachts will be launched for the Clipper 13-14 Round the World Yacht Race. Since the race started more than 4,000 people from all walks of life have participated in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.

Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race

The Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race started on 31 July 2011 from Southampton on the UK’s south coast and will return to the city in July 2012 after 40,000 miles of ocean racing – the world’s longest ocean race. The event was established by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston to give everyone, regardless of sailing experience, the opportunity to experience the exhilaration of ocean racing. More than 500 people representing more than 40 nations will compete in Clipper 11-12. They can sign up for the whole circumnavigation or one or more of eight legs. The only qualification for the race is the minimum age of 18 – there is no upper age limit. The overall race is divided into individual stages and points are accumulated in a Formula 1-style scoring system. The yacht with the highest total at the finish wins the Clipper Trophy.
