NC Advocates for Justice Leader Appointed to State’s Impaired Driving Task Force

The 30-person task force will review existing North Carolina data, laws, regulations, and programs and develop a statewide impaired driving plan to provide a comprehensive strategy for preventing and reducing impaired driving behavior. North Carolina is required to submit a statewide impaired driving plan to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The Governor has appointed individuals from a variety of transportation and law enforcement backgrounds and disciplines. Bill Powers has been named Best Lawyers’ “Lawyer of the Year” 2013 for Charlotte DUI/DWI Defense. He is also a General Member of the National College of DUI Defense, Inc and a board certified Criminal Law Specialist. He serves as Vice President of Communications on NCAJ’s Executive Committee.

NCAJ provides continuing legal education for lawyers aimed at enhancing the quality of the legal profession, offers public education programs aimed at enhancing public access and understanding of the legal system, supports the writing of amicus briefs for the appellate courts, and advocacy work at the legislature in the areas of criminal and civil justice.
