Album is Bang Bang Lyrics: There was a decorated General with a heart of gold That likened him to all the stories he told Of past battles won and lost and legends of old A seasoned veteran in his own time On the battlefield he gained respectable fame With many metals of bravery and stripes to his name He grew a beard as soon as he could to cover the scars on his face And always urged his men on But on the eve of great battle with the infantry in dream The old general tossed in his sleep and wrestled with its meaning He awoke from the night just to tell what he had seen And walked slowly out of his tent All the men held tall with their chests in the air With the courage in their blood and a fire in their stare And it was a gray morning and they all wondered how they would fare Till the old general told them to go home Chorus: He said, I have seen the others and I have discovered that this fight is not worth fighting And I’ve have seen their mothers and I will no other to follow me where I’m going So, take your shower, shine your shoes You got no time to lose You are young men you must be living Take your shower, shine your shoes Well, you got no time to lose You are young men you must be living Go now you are forgiven But the men stood fast with their guns on their shoulders Not knowing what to do with the contradicting orders The general said he …

I don’t think war will ever end. There will always be a person with the means and recources to try to take over and there will always be a resistance.
So its a story about a general seeing that it is an unwinable battle. Hes telling his soldiers to go and live to fight another day. He knows if they were to fight lives would be lost for nothing.
Uhm..
Guitar…

So they left the old guy to fight by himself? What a bunch of pansies. Either everyone goes or noone does.

You, really really need to calm down dude. Way to blow up over nothing.
It’s a good thing the lyrics are straight forward. Calm down.
This is fucking stupid, this is not a lyric video. change the name you fucking waste of humanity.
Amen
“that this fight its not worth fighting” direct lyric…
What I don’t understand is why people think this song is anti war. Listen to the lyrics. The general is preparing himself for war, but wants the young kids he has in his platoon (or what have you) to leave and live their lives as young men. He clearly tells them don’t follow me into battle. How is that anti-war? The general knows there is a cause worth dying for but does not want his soldiers dying with him. Great story, great lyrics, great melody, great song. anti-war? I think not.
Beautiful song.
Is it so inconceivable that we could one day move beyond war? In the last 200 years we have seen the end of slavery, serfdom, feudalism, imperialism (sort of) survived 2 world wars, a 50 year cold war, and united the the peoples of the world with the internet and a global economy.
This is the most mature and beautiful war/antiwar (whatever you want to call it) song I’ve ever heard.
war is…..um….bad. yeah, bad. master debator.
